Communicate for Reconciliation: Indigenous representation in governance

May 27 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm UTC+10

There is no shortage of organisations that publicly commit to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples – but in reality, more needs to be done to integrate meaningful Indigenous representation within organisational governance, leadership and storytelling.

This National Reconciliation Week, hear from two First Nations leaders about what’s working, what’s not and how organisations can put steps in place to ensure reconciliation is enabled from the top down.

Tanya Denning-Orman, proud Birri and Guugu Yimidhirr woman and Director First Nations at SBS, will explore:
– The power of story and media
– Institutional transformation
– Bringing culture into the workplace

Tristan Kennedy, Indigenous academic with Noongar ancestry, and current Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous) and Senior Vice-President at Monash University, will discuss:
– The role of universities for Indigenous communities
– Truth-telling and the academy
– Indigenous leadership for collaboration and impact
