The role
Join Reconciliation Australia as our People & Culture Manager and become both the HR subject matter expert and champion of our ‘One RA’ culture. As a culture ambassador, you’ll partner with our team to sustain and grow a positive a positive and supportive culture while being the first point of contact for all people matters. You’ll drive strategic initiatives that strengthen our organisational culture and capability, nurture our team’s wellbeing and ensure our people practices actively support reconciliation.
From managing the full employee lifecycle to leading our capability framework refresh and employee engagement initiatives, you’ll shape how we live our values every day. This position offers the unique opportunity to be a steward of our organisational culture while making a meaningful impact on both our team and Australia’s reconciliation journey.
About you
You’re an experienced HR generalist who sees yourself as a people and culture in purpose-driven environments. You understand that great HR work goes beyond processes and policies – it’s about being a cultural champion who helps teams thrive while staying true to organisational values.
You’re naturally collaborative, able to work both independently and as part of a team, bringing strong communication skills and the ability to influence and counsel staff at all levels. Your approach is both strategic and deeply people-centred, maintaining confidentiality while being approachable and genuinely caring about people’s wellbeing and growth. Most importantly, you’re committed to being an ambassador for reconciliation, understanding the cultural sensitivity required and actively championing inclusive practices that honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.
Selection criteria

Essential:
- Extensive experience as a generalist HR professional with high-level knowledge in a range of HR areas including end-to-end recruitment, performance management, learning and development, development of strategic HR processes and workplace relations and culture.
- Commitment to and willingness to learn about and contribute to reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate and counsel staff.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative but also as an enthusiastic team player working collaboratively with other teams in Reconciliation Australia.
- Must be reliable, flexible and able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Understanding and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and issues, including the importance of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment strategy.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR, business or equivalent.
Desirable
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and senior stakeholders.

Salary
The salary range for this role is $130,000 – $135,000 + superannuation (inclusive of 17.5% leave loading), dependent on experience and qualifications.
