A gallery exhibition showcasing artwork in various media to celebrate and showcase local Aboriginal artists. The public can contribute to an interactive temporary installation as part of the exhibition by participating in art workshops on Saturday 19 May, or Saturday 26 May, 2pm - 4pm in Gallery M. Due to the amazing success of the 2017 Reconciliation Ball. The Shire of East Pilbara is proud to announce the Reconciliation Ball will be held again in 2018. The Ball is held to provide all members of the community of Newman with an opportunity to participate in Reconciliation Week and to recognise, reflect and commemorate the significance of Australia’s reconciliation journey. The event is proudly sponsored by BHP and Ahrens.
This On Country program is a cultural exchange program presented by Tasmanian Aboriginal people through an oral presentation, dance and a day long immersion in Tasmanian Aboriginal heritage and culture. The public are invited to walk on Aboriginal land and have the opportunity to learn about our recent past, but also the rich traditions that enabled Tasmanian Aborigines to manage their lands, fisheries and culture for thousands of years.
