SUMMARY:National Sorry Day film screening
DESCRIPTION:Join us in recognising National Sorry Day with a special screening of the powerful documentary Genocide in the Wildflower State at Murnong First Peoples Gathering Place. \nThis event is a great opportunity to learn and reflect on the significance of National Sorry Day. \nGenocide in the Wildflower State is a powerful documentary that invites reflection on Australia’s history\, the continuing need for truth and justice\, and the importance of healing and understanding. Set against the landscape of the state’s wildflower regions\, the film exposes the forced removal and institutionalisation of Aboriginal children in Western Australia under government assimilation policies\, where missions and state settlements operated as sites of incarceration\, intended to erase Aboriginal culture\, identity and family life.
