On 21 November 2004 former Essendon legend Michael Long embarked on an historic trek, walking from his home in the suburbs of Melbourne all the way to Parliament House in Canberra. Along the way, and every year since, Michael is joined by thousands of Australians in a show of immense support for reconciliation and a just, equitable and inclusive Australia.
In 2017, The Long Walk will be held on Saturday, 27 May at Federation Square from 10:30am, at Federation Square. Following a free concert and community celebration, thousands of Australians will join The Long Walk to the Dreamtime at the 'G AFL match between Essendon and Richmond.

At the heart of reconciliation is the relationship between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. To achieve reconciliation, we need to develop strong relationships built on trust and respect, and that are free of racism.
