MG Corporation

2012 finalist

Yawoorroong Miriuwung Gajerrong Yirrgeb Noong Dawang Aboriginal Corporation (MG Corporation) is the leading Indigenous organisation in the East Kimberley. MG Corporation receives and manages the entitlements and benefits transferred under the Ord Final Agreement (OFA) to the Miriuwung and Gajerrong people (MG people), the native title holders over their traditional country in the East Kimberley. The OFA provides a broad package of measures to create a platform for future partnerships for the benefit of the wider community and the East Kimberley Region.

“MG is doing great and innovative work around Aboriginal employment and developing the organisation to be sustainable and genuinely independent from Government funding. They’re investing in growing leaders and put enormous effort into work readiness training for locals and cultural awareness for local employers. Their governance structure is uniquely designed to reflect the traditional governance of the region.”

Glenda Humes, former CEO, South West Aboriginal Medical Service and IGA judge

“MG is absolutely committed to bringing MG people to the forefront of this region and its economy.”

Craig Bonney, MG staff member
