Category B is open to Indigenous projects or initiatives operating at a community, regional or national level that are Indigenous-led and not directly incorporated under legislation.

The aim of category B is to recognise, promote and learn from the effective governance that occurs outside incorporated bodies. Governance is not just something established organisations do; all sorts of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups, projects and entities have governance.

To be eligible to enter category B, you must be able to demonstrate that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are driving the project, making the decisions and keeping it running on the ground.

Any type of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led projects and initiatives can apply. This includes projects or initiatives that sit within or under an incorporated organisation as long as the decision-makers (governing body) of the project are not the board directors of that incorporated body.
