2020 Summit

On 19 and 20 April 2008 the Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd convened an Australia 2020 Summit at Parliament House to help shape a long-term strategy for the nation’s future.

1967 Referendum

In 1967, after ten years of campaigning, a referendum was held to change the Australian Constitution. The referendum saw more then 90% of eligible Australians vote YES to count Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians in the national census of the population and to give the Commonwealth Government power to make specific laws for Indigenous people.
