The Barometer is a national research study that looks at the relationship between Indigenous and other Australians. Designed to be repeated every two years, the Barometer explores how we see and feel about each other, and how these perceptions affect progress towards reconciliation and closing the gap.

This is the first time we have compared core attitudes and values of Indigenous Australians to those of other Australians. The Barometer is an indicator of how we see ourselves and where we aspire to be as Australians.

In 2010, we’ll be conducting the Barometer again, to measure the progress we’ve made as a nation since 2008. We are surveying the attitudes of non-Indigenous Australians as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians from across the country. We need your assistance to ensure we have a good sample of Indigenous Australians. The survey will ask you about your attitudes, experiences and aspirations for yourself and Australia.

You can help in two ways:

  1. By taking part in the survey – Click here to have your say
  2. By sending this information to Indigenous friends and colleagues so they may take part also, giving us a much larger survey sample.
