A RAP provides an organisation with a framework for the future, detailing steps and priorities to achieve Indigenous equality.
This framework covers the activities that we know can make a difference: building good relationships; respecting the special contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Australia; and ensuring Indigenous children have the same life opportunities as other children in this prosperous country.
International experience and the growing evidence of what works proves that one central ingredient is vital: respectful partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
New Zealand, the United States and Canada have turned their Indigenous life expectancy statistics around; your RAP can help us do the same:

RAP Impact Measurement Reconciliation Australia is developing an impact assessment framework to report on the collective impact of RAPs on closing the gap in life expectancy between Indigenous and other Australians. This will examine the links between actions undertaken through RAPs and the World Health Organisation's social determinants of health. This framework will be independently assessed by expert groups. A discussion paper on RAP impact measurement will be released in the first quarter of 2009 and will be followed by workshops to seek comments and feedback. |
