The project will investigate money management and banking issues for Indigenous individuals and families living in urban, rural and remote locations. The scope does not include the financial management of community organisations i.e. governance issues.
Basic banking and financial products and services such as transaction accounts, personal lending, credit cards, ATMs, EFTPOS, Internet and Phone banking and branch access will be considered over the term of the project. Although more complicated financial products such as tax, superannuation, insurance and investment products have not been included in the scope of this project, these will continue to be debated by IFSN members, including investigating the possibility of setting up a similar, dedicated network to consider these products in more detail.
