Achievements
The IFSN does not run programs itself but rather seeks to influence the actions of its membership. The following are some of the actions IFSN has helped to influence or drive:
- Increased scope and scale of financial literacy programs delivered by the Banks and Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)
- Increased education around rights and responsibilities when it comes to financial services
- Improved customer service through greater cultural awareness in financial institutions and a focus on recruiting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees
- Improved customer support services
- Improved regulation of unscrupulous lenders
- Increased focus on education around ‘book-up’ practices
- Support for lifting savings behaviour
- Suitable personal credit products
- Suitable transaction products.
