Aboriginal Artists Art Exhibition & Competition -
incorporating The Tony Donovan Reconciliation Prize
During Reconciliation Week 2008, the Office of Fair Trading continues its promotion of the annual Reconciliation Week Aboriginal Artists Art Exhibition & Competition in conjunction with Gosford Regional Gallery. This event provides an opportunity for local Aboriginal artists to showcase their work to the Central Coast community and to visitors to the Central Coast. It provides a practical and positive way to promote reconciliation within the whole community. In 2007, almost $10,000 in prize money was awarded to local artists. Entries come from the whole community including primary and high schools, youth and professional artists. Awards are also made to artists from Indigenous and Non-Indigenous backgrounds working in collaboration on themes of reconciliation.
Entry of works to the exhibition and competition is only open to residents of the Gosford and Wyong LGAs. Except for the Collaboration and Non Indigenous categories, entrants must meet the definition for identification as an Aboriginal person.
